Students are always faced with competition when applying for internships, but this is especially true for those ambitious freshmen and sophomores trying to land a summer internship for the first time. Employers are often flooded with applications from older students, and it can be hard for younger students’ applications to find their way to the top of the pile. Jumpstart, our new networking and internship fair, can help give these students the leg-up that they might need.
The Career and Professional Development Center has invited Employment Opportunities Conference (EOC) employers who are especially interested in networking with freshmen and sophomores to attend Jumpstart. Students will have the ability to mingle throughout the room and speak with recruiters from more than twenty-five different companies. These employers are looking forward to the opportunity to speak with younger students, and many of them have internships available. Jumpstart will give your students the chance to be able to speak with recruiters on a more personal level, and will be an impactful networking event for everyone.
Jumpstart will be held the evening before the EOC, Monday, February 8, 2016 from 5:00-7:30 in Rangos 1, and is only open to undergraduate first and second year students. Encourage your students to attend and network with potential employers!
